Household in a literary term means all the People living together in the same house, while a household enemy is an unwanted alien within the household.
They are like weed (tares) among our wheat in the garden of our lives.
Anyone who hears of the household enemies would think of devil, witches or wizard. No! They go beyond that; they are invisible though; yet dangerous than the forces of those three mentioned put together. Ask me what they are or who they are? They are as deadly as cancer, as destructive as an acid; and the Good news is; they are killable, and we can surmount their mountains. They are number one enemy of mankind, and they come from the enemy of man- the devil; therefore they ought not to be found in our domain.
And they are like onion bulbs; and some can manifest early, and some manifest later in life. They are namely: -
1. Fear,
2. Anger,
3. Anxiety.
And they birth to so many offspring as follows; worry, nervousness, impatience, sorrow, and unnecessary delay; among many others.
"Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous;
but who is able to stand before envy?"
Proverbs 27:4.
We would be treating them one after the other.
FEAR: - Fear is a state of apprehension, or extreme tension in which there is no object of tension. It is a state of timidity. Thus it is described by this acronym;
F- FALSE
E- EVIDENCE
A- APPEARING
R- REAL.
It could be seen as a mirage in the mind of a fellow, and when this happened; it throws one into the state of disillusionment, and when this is not well tackled it makes one become shadow of one self. Or one would be fighting or chasing the wind, or shadow- boxing and when this occurs it gives a negative signal to the heart to generate what is medically called “palpitation” or arrhythmias of the heart which is; Inco-ordinate activities of the heart waves. This occurred when the fear is intensified rather, than being resolved. Fear has torment! This is because when fear becomes an idol in your heart, it is dangerous because it make one to start hating People without any cogent reason, and such People become paranoid; that is to become unnecessary suspicion that someone wants to hurt them; which ought not to be. But sometimes, this could be a mental disorder which when not handled properly results to hallucinations, which could be auditory or visual; meaning perception of presence of People around. Or seeing a person, or hearing voices; as in the case of auditory hallucination, whereas there is nothing as such.
And one of the reasons why People feel that way is lack of love, because they are not made perfect in love; that's why they are skeptical about everything they do.
"Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away".
1 Corinthians 13: 8 NIV.
When we are fully conscious of the fact that love is a debt we can never off-set till eternity comes, then we will begin to give it out lavishly without measure. Love was shed in our hearts to flow abroad to others; it's not meant to remain static there.
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law".
Romans 13:1, 8 KJV.
When love is made perfect in our hearts; we'd be obeying the law and the Prophet; hence hatred and fear will have no base in our hearts.
“There is no fear in Love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in Love”.
1 JOHN 4:18.
The second enemy is stronger and more dangerous than the first:
ANGER: -anger is the physical demonstration, or expression of distaste or hot displeasure towards what is done to a fellow by another person, or a response or a reaction to wrong doing. It is the younger brother of envy according to our opening text;
"Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous;
but who is able to stand before envy?"
Proverbs 27:4.
For hatred breeds contempt and envy brings anger; that is act of jealousy which is the product of lack of love for one another. GOD is love, therefore we must begin to love; even our enemies and pray for them to be saved. The children of anger are strife, contention, violence, and variance; all these means the same thing, but they operate at different degree centigrade; just like temperature of a thing determines the heat it will generate, so also is the measure of impact they make in human lives, and society at large.
"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly".
Proverbs 15:1-2 NIV.
Soft words break the bone, and it is an impeccable fire extinguisher for the ‘fire-spitting ones’- extremely intolerant or aggressive ones, it could also means proud ones. And the only insulator it recognized is self control.
He who is slow to anger is wise, and he who rules his spirit is stronger than the mighty one who takes and conquers the city. PROVERBS 16:32. This is because the tongue; though it is the smallest organ, yet it is the most dangerous organ to tame, that's why we are advised to guide our heart with all diligence.
"Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Never say anything that isn't true. Have nothing to do with lies and misleading words".
Proverbs 4:23-24 GNBDC.
This because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. And when this is not curtailed; it leads to seven abominable things which GOD hates and detests:
"There are seven things that the LORD hates and cannot tolerate: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that kill innocent people, a mind that thinks up wicked plans, feet that hurry off to do evil, a witness who tells one lie after another, and someone who stirs up trouble among friends. Do what your father tells you, my son, and never forget what your mother taught you".
Proverbs 6:16-20 GNBDC.
When we abide by all these Godly principles of taming our tongue, and self control; we'd see our world would be a better place for us to dwell in.
The third one is like its two counterparts; with plenty children and grand children.
3. ANXIETY: - anxiety is a state of nervousness, and unnecessary eagerness; I'm not talking about psychological nervous disorder, but undue hastiness in handling issues of life, we give all thanks to GOD who has given us the antidote for this- in His Word:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God".
Philippians 4: 6 NIV.
When this is prolonged in the heart of a man, it leads to worry, impatience, undeserved delay because one tends to miss out of opportunities in their due season of Divine visitation, and it leads to delay as some opportunities are not easy to regain; except by His Grace.
"When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without".
Hosea 7:1 KJV.
One would live in perpectual sadness, anguish of the Soul, bitterness, and unmet expectations from loved ones; which most People called disappointment because they want everything to happen at their own pace, and timing. Therefore; anger is one the grand children of anxiety, also undue hatred cannot be found missing in the abode of such People veering under the influence of this canker worm called anxiety.
Therefore, let us learn to abide by all these Godly principles, and fumigate our lives with Prayers and Thanksgiving.
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ JESUS".
1 Thessalonians 5: 18 NIV.
When any of this is present in the life of a man; if he doesn't cry out for Help and Mercy of GOD; irrespective of how lofty, great or influential he can be; he’s bound to crash down to square one, such person is like a time bomb waiting to explode. Let us remember Moses.Vvc
May GOD help us in JESUS Mighty Name.
